Tonight I had a play around with some candles and varying shutter speeds to get the effect I wanted. I really wanted to capture a picture of one of the candles just being blown out and a crisp view of the smoke it emits. I failed! I couldn’t get a well enough exposed picture (it was too dark) if I used a faster shutter speed and leaving the shutter open longer (to let more light in) meant that smoke was smooth and hardly visible. I was using my kit lens which isn’t really quick enough, I will have to save some money and purchase my first prime lens, would love a 50mm f/1.4 but might take a while before I can afford one. Once I do I will give this another crack! This picture was the best of the other shots I got, it is ISO 100, 55mm, f/10, 2,5secs.
